I requested a rent history from the NY State Division of Housing and found that back in 1994, the rent for my apartment was $379.92/month. Thanks to rent control, over the next 11 years, that rose to only $550.96/month in 2005, a 45% increase. Over the following 11 years, rent rose to $2,850/month in 2016, a 417% increase.
